WARNING: CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR "TORCHWOOD: CHILDREN OF EARTH - DAYS 1-5"


So. I cannot believe they killed Ianto. It seemed to be a completely pointless twist in the storyline, written in only for sensationalism and because RTD seems to have become Joss Whedon and has chosen to traumatize Jack.

BUT, fear not.

There is, on LJ, a community called "Save the Coffee Boy: A Bloody Annoyed Ianto Jones". I am part of it, and we are trying our damnedest to get Ianto back on Torchwood. Most of us have made it quite clear that we would not be opposed to one of RTD's famous "reset" episodes. Some of us don't care how implausible the scenario is.

We are sending letters, emails, comments and coffee to RTD and the BBC in Wales in hopes that they will take notice of us. This method was used when NBC's show "Chuck" was in danger of being cancelled. Fans rallied together and the show was renewed for another season.

Now, some of you may be wondering if it was Gareth David-Lloyd's decision to leave Torchwood. The answer to that is: WE DON'T KNOW. There have been rumours that it was completely a writer's decision, that Gareth David-Lloyd decided that he wanted to leave, and that both Gareth and the writers made the decision. We have not gotten any confirmation of any of those stories yet. However, if it was indeed Gareth David-Llyod's decision to leave the show, then we respect his wishes and hope that what we are sending will simply remind him of the fact that we love his work.

So go check out the community, get involved, even if you can't send coffee, send comments, send emails, do what you can to contribute. BE CREATIVE! If anything, we want them to at least know that we made an effort.
